Basic information about Administration of Železné Hory Protected Landscape Area:
Designation of the Železné Hory PLA was in preparation from 1979. The years of effort were crowned with success on March 27th 1991, when the PLA was designated by Ministry of Environment regulation with effect from May 1st 1991. The purpose of the designation is landscape conservation and in the future gradual restoration of its treasures, character and features.
The area of the PLA is 284 km2. Out of this, 194 km2 is part of the Chrudim region and 90 km2 is part of the Havlíčkův Brod region. Inside the PLA 24 protected areas and 14 monument trees have been designated and others are being prepared for designation. The whole area is divided into 4 zones in terms of the natural treasures of the territory according to Act No.114/1992 Coll.
The PLA Administration of Železné Hory, based in Nasavrky, provides expert administration of the area. State administration is carried out according to Act No. 114/1992 Coll. on nature and landscape protection.
The administration of Železné Hory PLA is an office of the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection, which manages 23 other administrations of PLAs.
